EMG-NCS-Reports

EMG (Electromyography) and NCS (Nerve Conduction Studies) are diagnostic tests that help our patients by identifying the cause of symptoms such as muscle weakness, numbness, tingling, pain, or cramping. These tests assess the health of muscles and the nerves that control them, allowing us to determine whether symptoms are due to muscle disorders, nerve disorders, or problems with the connection between nerves and muscles.

EMG measures the electrical activity produced by muscles in response to nerve stimulation, helping to detect neuromuscular abnormalities. NCS evaluates how well and how quickly electrical signals travel through your nerves, which can reveal nerve damage or disease. When performed together, these tests can pinpoint the presence, location, and extent of nerve or muscle problems, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, herniated discs, or conditions like ALS and muscular dystrophy.

We used this detailed information that cannot be obtained from imaging tests like X-rays or MRIs, EMG and NCS help us make accurate diagnoses and develop effective treatment plans. This leads to better management of symptoms and improved patient outcomes, as the underlying cause of discomfort or dysfunction can be addressed more precisely.
